Let me tell you a little bit about me, my EverQuest experience, and why I wanted to create The Athenaeum.

I have been an avid player of the EverQuest world since October of 1999 when I created my first character. I played a bit of EverQuest Online Adventures when it was released. I continued developing my EQLive character and was excited to try out this Norrathian world torn apart by cataclysms and the abandonment of the gods that was to be EverQuest II. I played it since launch in November 2004 and have grown more and more enchanted by the stories told about characters from the mysterious backgrounds of rulers Antonia Bayle and The Overlord to the cursed House of Everling found in Nektropos Castle to the searching and discovering of lands and how the disasters upon Norrath affected them.

Though I didn't learn a lot of lore in the original game, I have studied much about the lore of EverQuest II. The storytellers (Vhalen, Jindrack, Ilucide, and many others) have woven such beautiful web of lore that I wanted to help share the tale by giving easy access to the information found in this ever growing world.

My desire is to continually update this site whether it be with new information added through Game Updates or with new sections which give more in-depth knowledge of the existing lore. The want for knowledge, the great insights and debates, and the unanswered questions of the great community on the History and Lore boards over on the EQ2 forums have inspired me to create The Athenaeum. I hope you enjoy this site and find it helpful in your lore studies.
